About Nepal fuel prices

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state-owned monopoly importer of petroleum products, sets retail fuel prices for Petrol (MS), Diesel (HSD), Kerosene (SKO), LPG, Aviation Fuel and Jet A-1. Prices are revised whenever the landed cost (Indian Oil Corporation export rate + exchange rate + duties) moves materially — typically every 2 to 4 weeks.

NOC publishes prices in three regional bands. Band 3 (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dipayal) sees the highest rate because inland transport from the Birgunj/Amlekhgunj depots adds roughly NPR 2.5 per litre. Band 1 covers the Tarai border supply points and is the cheapest.

LPG cylinders use a flat national rate. Aviation Fuel for international flights is priced in USD per kilolitre; Jet A-1 for domestic flights is in NPR per litre.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

  1. 1
What is the petrol price in Nepal today?
Petrol in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal currently sells around NPR 217 per litre as set by Nepal Oil Corporation. Border-region depots (Band 1) are about NPR 2.5 cheaper per litre.
  2. 2
How often does NOC revise fuel prices?
NOC publishes a 15-day profit/loss statement and revises retail prices when the international rate combined with the NPR–USD exchange rate justifies a change — historically every 2 to 4 weeks.
  3. 3
Why is petrol cheaper in Birgunj than in Kathmandu?
Birgunj is one of NOC's three primary supply points (Indian Oil → NOC depot). Cities in the Kathmandu / Pokhara / Dipayal band pay an extra transport differential per litre.
  4. 4
Is LPG priced the same across Nepal?
Yes — the 14.2 kg LPG cylinder rate is flat nationwide at NPR 2,160. Local dealers may add a small last-mile delivery charge.
  5. 5
How is Jet A-1 priced differently from Aviation Fuel?
Aviation Fuel for international flights is sold duty-free in USD per kilolitre. Jet A-1 for domestic flights is in NPR per litre and includes the standard duties.
